SOMNIA-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS
1. Dreams are how Sleep chooses you. What might draw your character into Somnia— a wound, a wish, a weakness? Would they follow the dream, or run from it?
Deep wounds can lead to seemingly simple wishes. I think Saheon would be drawn into Somnia for the same reason he went to work for his Daydream Inc - he doesn’t want to die in the cult he grew up in. But behind that wish is so much more, a desire for freedom, safety, and love. If Sleep could offer that, even the barest hint of it, then there’s nothing in the world Saheon wouldn’t do. He’d make himself do anything.
2. Somnia is a slow unraveling—of worlds, and of selves. How does your character respond to fear, transformation, and losing control? Do they fight, adapt, collapse?
If there is one good thing that could be said for Saheon, it’s that he adapts. Fear, transformation, loss of control are things he’s been inoculated against since childhood, and he’s able to pull himself together quite well no matter what the world throws at him. These coping mechanisms might not be the…healthiest…as Saheon is quick to lash out at others and very quick to behave in erratic irrational ways when he’s frightened but he will usually recover from this pattern once he feels better. Still, probably someone it's best to avoid in any sort of crisis.
3. Connection is the only constant. What kind of bonds does your character form— fast and burning, slow and wary, deep and desperate? How might that shape their time in this world?
Saheon is an egotistical maniac who only cares about himself, but he’s also a human being. While he rebuffs most attempts at human contact, and his actual personality is so awful nobody could be blamed for giving up on him, when true connection is formed he holds onto it. While he might initially treat it lightly, canon has shown that Saheon can be deeply moved by true altruism and kindness that disproves his narrow view of the world.
At the moment he’s at the crossroads. Saheon just felt the barest hint of human connection in canon, enough he might be open to reconsidering his ways… or doubling down.
4. What are two major forces in your character’s personality that are often in conflict? (Ex: logic vs emotion, power vs guilt, obedience vs rage, etc.)
His nature as a moral actor versus his selfish desires. Is it worth doing horrible things to live? Saheon says yes yes YES, but in reality he's been slowly destroying himself. He fixates on perceived wrongs and uses equal parts misanthropy and victim blaming to justify himself. In the original timeline of GCDG, Saheon is referred to as an unrepentant villain who destroys everyone around him. Despite this, he’s had a second chance and been prevented (against his will) from engaging in his worst impulses. He has enough humanity left to be cowed and controlled, to feel guilt and maybe approach the idea of change, but not enough to actually commit.
To look at it in a broader sense, Saheon has been suppressing his genuine emotions for a very long time. What he wants is very disconnected from what he's forcing himself to want for the sake of survival. He can work himself up into doing all sorts of monstrous things, but he doesn’t gain any pleasure from them other than the certainty he’ll live another day. The more scared he gets, and the more erratic his behavior becomes, the more Saheon has to force himself to accommodate. It’s the sort of tension that drives people crazy! (he is crazy)
On a much smaller scale of this issue, in daily life Saheon often struggles between his pride versus how he wants to act in order to use people. He tends to put up a paper thin facade of kindness and harmlessness - which quickly falls apart when he loses his temper.
VESSEL SELECTION
Which Vessel Type are you choosing: Token or Offering? Offering
Why does this Vessel type feel appropriate for your character? He’s already mentally forcing himself to the limit of his own humanity, so having that reflected literally would be nice and thematic. Satyr also seems to fit him, panic leading to aggression, overly emotional and high strung, along with the goat theme he’s carrying along with him from canon.
Choose one OR list three subclass options within your chosen Vessel type that you think would suit them: Satyr
Samples: link threads of your character being played, preferably from our TDM.
